Profiles in Faith: Jacob Campbell

What does faith mean to you in one sentence?
An excerpt from St. John's first letter: "God is love, and all who live in love, live in God."
If you were going to tattoo it on your arm, which Bible verse would it be?
God is love, and all who live in love, live in God
What is your favorite thing about being part of Men of Faith?
Men of Faith? More like Masters of Food! These people know how to cook!
What is one thing you would like to see added in the future?
Consider adding a weeknight opportunity for Reconciliation. Perhaps couple it with Adoration. I have attended a few parishes where this combination creates a powerful environment and draws quite a few people.
What is one thing you would like to see eliminated in the future?
Consider eliminating the catchphrase "Man Up" from MoF gatherings. I'm not sure how often this phrase is still in circulation, but I remember seeing it pop up a few times as part of previous MoF gathering titles. Although I understand it is a pithy call to action, it may unintentionally stifle the more feminine elements which men can possess and successfully integrate into their beings while still acting fully as men.
Short Essay
I choose to identify myself as a Catholic gay instead of a gay Catholic. My personal favorite homilists would agree that syntax matters and this application of syntax helps me reveal the mystery of my baptismal call: a Catholic-first identity. Is there anything wrong with identifying oneself as a gay Catholic? Of course not. My adjective swap is simply a miniature profession of faith; my sexuality, professional work, or any other part of me only infuses greater depth of flavor into my ecclesial affiliation.
