Profiles in Faith: Matt Breneman

What does faith mean to you in one sentence?
God is the ultimate supporter: gentle when we need it, firm when we need it.
If you were going to tattoo it on your arm, which Bible verse would it be?
I'd get imagery of the three wise men and the Epiphany. It's an important event in my spiritual development, and a reminder to keep Jesus' example as a guiding principle.
If it were a verse: "Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope..." -Romans 5:3-4
What is your favorite thing about being part of Men of Faith?
The amazing people I've met and had the privilege to get to know.
What is one thing you would like to see added in the future?
MoF partnerships or co-hosted events to engage other segments of the community like HSYM, social concerns, liturgy, health, etc.
What is one thing you would like to see eliminated in the future?
At the parish level, I'd like to see the way we market events and efforts be more coordinated. Aligning the message in the bulletin, Flocknote, announcements, and supporting social events would help people engage. Having a variety of events is nice, but too much info can deter people from digging in.
For the Men of Faith, keep it up! Perhaps find a way to streamline the time spent putting on all the great events to make it more sustainable for the folks involved, but the results of all that effort are compelling!
